About HBCU Pulse

HBCU Pulse is a multimedia outlet with the mission to tell the authentic stories of HBCU Life via traditional, digital and social media outlets to amplify our voice. We also aim to provide HBCU students and alumni opportunities to use their skillsets to expand their resume and portfolio by working with the #1 HBCU Lifestyle outlet across several platforms.

HBCU Pulse was started by Randall Barnes in conjunction with the popular Black Culture website and company Urban Intellectuals while he was a sophomore at Fort Valley State University on January 3, 2017. Since then, HBCU Pulse has amassed millions of impressions across all of our digital platforms and has built a national audience. HBCU Pulse is the first HBCU Lifestyle brand to have a channel on the HBCU focused streaming service HBCU League Pass Plus and has worked in collaboration with several brands including TBS, Bank Of America, Weight Watchers Reimagined, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the NBA. HBCU Pulse was also featured on The Shade Room twice (2021 & 2022) for our original and aggregated content.
