“Urban Edge Network is pleased to welcome Benedict College to our platform. The history of Benedict College and its impact on South Carolina is well over a century old and represents Black excellence born and bred in the soil of this state. From Chino Smith’s example and his legacy from the Negro League Baseball era to the incredible leadership of the U.S. Olympic Committee by Dr. LeRoy T. Walker, these are some of the examples of Benedict’s sports prowess. We fully expect that Benedict College will continue to break new ground whilst highlighting the 14 scholarship sports at the college.
